Above is the front door to the
apartment. We're (well, ONE of us is) standing in the elevator
to take the pic. The top step of the stairs is just visible in
the lower right corner. We're on the Premier Etage (what Americans
would call the Second Floor) to the right. Yoiu have to turn the
key twice to unlock. Through the door you can see our 100+ year
old floor, our tres-Parisian shopping cart, and the sink and shower
of the bathroom. What you actually see when you enter the front
door are five other doors. Including the bathroom door above,
on the left you'll see the doors to the spare bedroom (with the
window and blinds) and to the living room. On the right are doors
to the main bedroom and down the hall is the kitchen (and the
WC door is down there on the right, as well). You can also see
the white electrical
box that contains circuit breakers and meters, a fire extinguisher
and a list of emergency phone numbers. Beyond that is a shoe rack,
for the convenience of all.
There are shelves above two of the walls and above the kitchen door. Mostly the boxes there are empty and available for packing things to take home.
Just to the right of the apartment door, which all but disappears behind a red curtain once it's closed, there is a telephone/intercom that is connected to the speaker outside the building. When someone presses the button opposite the Lane/Vadeboncoeur label outside, this phone will buzz. use the phone to talk to the visitor and push the two buttons on the wall piece to remotely unlock the door and admit your visitor.
A quick but important note about shoes: The floors ARE over 100 years old and they DO have some rough edges. Walk carefully if you choose to go in your bare feet or only in socks.
Below are small views of each room - starting clockwise from
the left as you enter the front door. You can click on any of
them (or on the room on the map above) to get a detailed tour.

| Most of our down time is spent in the Living Room which overlooks Rue Legendre - right above the "Depot-Vente" signs and across from the record store, which is called "Lenox Records." Just look out the window and there's the 1950s Rock & Roll record store. Nice folks. |
